Way to quickly ruin any chance of the game being popular
If you don't like it, you don't play, simple as that.In time, I aim to appeal to every audience.
While I agree that people who do not like stuff, should not play it, as there are more than enough other games, I think it is futile to want to appeal to every audience. There are audiences you do not want to appeal and there are audiences you cannot appeal within the same game.
A trivial example is children. You do not want to appeal your lewd game to them. At all.
And making a game with mandatory gay scenes appealing to straight players is near to impossible. Other topics are similar. If you include incest or rape topics, you will gain some players, but lose others.
It is like a big pizza with dozens of toppings. Most people like pizza, but despise certain toppings. Pineapple and olives are rather controversial, but even cheese and the dough itself are bad to appeal to vegans or gluten-avoiders. For others, it is the combination, so they might like pineapples, and olives, but not on the same pizza.
And now, I am hungry. Damn.
